If you are at all interested in Engineering Management, then you need to clear your calendar and read:

The Engineer/Manager Pendulum” by Charity Majors.

And here’s why:

  • Reason #1: You’ll understand that Management is not a Promotion.
  • Reason #2: You’ll get to know the Pendulum.
  • Reason #3: It will help you if you’re afraid to make any transition.
  • Reason #4: You’ll come out of it with the knowledge that moving to the other side of the Pendulum is not a demotion.
  • Reason #5: Because Charity is the best 🙌

I’m not going to start saying that this blog post completely changed my life, or changed the way I make certain decisions but… it has served as the foundation of so many conversations.

I think this post is great if you’re in one of these groups:

  • You manage managers
  • You’re a manager but deep down are thinking about going back to an Individual Contributor career
  • You’re an Individual Contributor thinking about moving into Management.

This blog post will help you broaden your horizons and open new paths for your career.
