Day 17: The 1 App I Can’t Live Without As A Tech Leader
Looking back, there’s one app that stands victorious over the past 10 years.
I’m not talking about just usage, but relevance in my day-to-day work. I’ll skip the obvious Calendar and Slack. And no… I won’t talk about Excel.
But don’t get me wrong… I love Excel!
The software I’m talking about allows me to expand my thoughts and even see multiple dimensions at the same time.
I thought about Notion and the capabilities to connect databases. Or maybe Confluence and JIRA but those are more operational than strategic.
To be perfectly honest, my favourite app is:
Miro
And here’s why:
- Reason #1: It’s an amazing tool to collaborate with other people.
- Reason #2: Nothing beats the “Follow” functionality when showing complex and large boards.
- Reason #3: You can import information from other sources like JIRA and quickly populate with tons of data.
But if you’re wondering why I use Miro the most?
Reorgs.
Anyone who works closely with me knows that at any given time I have a Miro for all scenarios. From the best possible outlook, where we not only maintain our teams but also grow and enforce our teams, to the most apocalyptical one where we have to contract and rethink the entire strategy for the group.
I know what you’re thinking… It’s just a couple of boxes with colors and names. But it’s so much more.
The fact that it handles a crazy amount of data effortlessly, is mindblowing.
I’m capable of drawing tons of scenarios, all on the same board, without any loss of performance.
I know of a couple of people who are probably smirking about me going wild because of Miro. I should have a PARADA20 discount code ahah.
How about you? what’s the most important app in your tool stack?
