What does every Tech Leader need to do their job? Something that your Team Leaders will demand of you? Without it, your teams are tied and their actions are minimal.

This is one of the most important things you can have as a Tech Leader:

Clear Priorities

Having a clear set of priorities is fundamental to having a focused team.

Everyone steers towards a common goal. You have a clear set of guidelines that allow you to decide between Project A and Project B. You remove the immediate dependency that your teams have on you to guide their every step.

This is one of the most important pillars of a great performant team.

But don’t be fooled.

You need to review your priorities recurrently. Life will fuzzy your priorities more often than you wish for. The goal is to be resilient and know when you can wait and when you need to ask for a clear set of priorities.

Mastering this balance is critical.
